Why You Should Hire a Law or Grad School Admissions Consultant

Grad School and Law School admissions consultants can be expensive. However, there are a few reasons why it makes sense to hire one.

1.     You can SAVE money

Admissions consultants possess critical insights that can SAVE you money. These admissions experts have a track record of getting themselves as well as others into grad school with scholarships. For example, I, the founder & CEO of JMK & Co., a grad and law school admissions consultancy, successfully negotiated scholarship offers from Ivy League graduate schools and the top-10 law schools in the country – gaining over six figures for many schools and even full tuition practically at “T14” schools.

Having these sorts of insights can allow you to get more scholarship money (whether it is merit or need-based), if you gain even just $10k in additional scholarship money, that already pays for the consultant + even more as we have the experience to get your more money!

2.     Consultants have experience getting into YOUR dream schools

Consultants have the experience, in some cases, of getting into the school you want to go to! They have also helped others get there, too! Even if you do not get scholarship money, a consultant can provide that extra oomph for you to get a “YES” or “CONGRALUTATIONS” email. There are tools and techniques that consultants have mastered that lead to these decisions. Having seen many applications with past clients, they have tips that can make your application stand out from the pack. This is important because admissions officers do not spend much time on each application since there are so many, for example, Georgetown Law gets over 14k applications, the most out of any law school for a class of ~500. The standard used to be 15 minutes per application, but it has lowered! So, it is ultra-important to STAND OUT and have a cohesive application besides just strong numbers (standardized test scores and GPA).

Moreover, consultants have engaged with each process of the admissions cycle: application, interviews, waitlists, and deciding between comparable universities. Again, insights that are invaluable, consultants can prep you for these high-stakes interviews as well as inform you on how to get off a waitlist!

3.     You have personalized support from start to enrollment

Depending on what consulting package you choose, you will have support and an expert to answer questions all throughout the process. You will have a soundboard to ask any question or bounce ideas off, which is vital. Additionally, consultants like myself know there are some “secrets” to admissions, such as pre-submitted application contacts with schools and post-submitted application communications that do not guarantee admission but can help your case because the application will have a face! This is school-dependent and consultants like me have gone through the process and have seen how these can help your cycle (and break it, too!). These are “secrets” a candidate can take to differentiate their application before they even apply, again, this is school dependent, but that is where your admissions consultant comes in once a list of schools to apply to is constructed!

So, you should 1000% consider hiring an admissions consultant because 1) it pays itself back, 2) you have access to crucial insights 24/7, and 3) it may move the needle to get an acceptance from your DREAM SCHOOL!

Also, some consultants like myself offer discounts for candidates who match certain profiles, check out JMK & Co.’s pro bono page for up to a 50% discount on services if you are eligible!
